Two-Day Ascent to Mytikas and Olympus: A Unforgettable Mountaineering Experience
The Two-Day Ascent to Mytikas and Olympus is a unique experience that every hiking enthusiast should live at least once. Mount Olympus, the mountain of the gods, is an iconic natural landscape that attracts those who love nature and adventure. From its impressive peaks to its alpine landscapes, this route offers one of the most challenging and awe-inspiring experiences in Greece.
Activities / Program
Day 1: Prionia – Spilios Agapitos Refuge
9:00 AM: Meeting at the central square of Litochoro and departure by car to Prionia (1,100m). The route through the forest is a great start to our adventure, full of natural beauty.
10:00 AM: We start our hike along the international E4 trail, which will lead us to Spilios Agapitos Refuge after approximately 3-4 hours. During the hike, we will cross forests and enjoy stunning views of the slopes of Olympus.
2:00 PM: Arrival at Spilios Agapitos Refuge, at an altitude of 2,100 meters. From here, the view towards the Aegean Sea and Litochoro is simply breathtaking. We enjoy the sunset and rest for the next day’s ascent.
Day 2: Ascent to the Peaks – Return to Prionia
3:40 AM: Early wake-up for the final ascent to the peaks of Mount Olympus. The cold night adds to the challenge, but the view from the summits will reward us.
4:15 AM: We follow the E4 trail to the Tria Synora point at 2,400 meters, where the trails diverge. From here, we head towards the summit Skala at 2,866 meters. If the weather conditions are favorable, we continue with safety equipment to the summit of Mytikas (2,918 meters), the highest peak in Greece.
Alternatively, if weather conditions do not permit the ascent to Mytikas, we follow the trail to Skolio (2,911 meters), the second-highest peak of Olympus. This route is also impressive and offers spectacular views.
4:00 PM: Return to Prionia and the completion of our adventure.
Alternative Route: Plateau of the Muses
For those who prefer a different route, there is the option to begin the ascent from the Gortsia forest area, following the path towards Petrostrouga and the Plateau of the Muses. This unique alpine landscape is famous for its beauty and is home to the historic refuges of Olympus. From the plateau, those who are ready can attempt the ascent to Mytikas on Saturday afternoon.

Your experience will be complete, as we provide additional equipment such as trekking poles, helmets, safety harnesses, and other essential gear to make the ascent more comfortable. Participants can also benefit from our technical guidance and support during the ascent, ensuring every step is taken with confidence and safety.
